Brookfield student finds success through OhioMeansJobs program

Brookfield School’s recent partnership with OhioMeansJobs Trumbull County helps students take the next step in their careers. The two partnered in February 2019 to help the youth transition from school age to young adults in the workforce.

Dale May, a 2019 graduate of Brookfield High School, found success through OhioMeansJobs summer program where he was able to spend nearly two months working with the Brookfield Fire Department. His duties included assisting with calls and equipment, and the everyday tasks of the fire department. After completion, May transitioned into OhioMeansJobs Adult Work Program which allows him to take on a bigger role with the fire department. May is also starting EMT school in October at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.

“Instead of me having to pay student loans, it’s all being paid for one hundred percent,” said May.

Ohio Means Jobs works with youth throughout the school year to provide support and incentives for good grades and attendance in schools.

Twelve Brookfield students are currently in the program. For more information about the summer program and how students can get involved, contact the OhioMeansJobs center at 330-675-2179.
