Superintendent meets with Ohio GovernorSuperintendent Toby Gibson Meets with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine
On Wednesday, July 28, 2022, Brookfield Local Schools Superintendent, Toby Gibson, met with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine at the Governor's residence as part of the Governor's Reception Celebrating Appalachia's Bright Future. Gibson was one of four local school superintendents to attend. While there, Gibson and Governor DeWine discussed social issues students in the Brookfield district are facing. Gibson also shared how the district has used the Wellness & Success Funds provided by the state to add full-time guidance counselors to each building and partner with community-based mental health providers to provide support to families.

"I was honored to be invited to attend the Governor's Reception to discuss not only the issues our district faces, but also the opportunities we are providing to our students to help ensure a successful future," Gibson says. "We have completely redesigned our library space this summer - and when students return, they will find a window to the world really. The space is now home to our maker space equipment, KUKA Core Robot, and machinery used in the pre-apprenticeship program. Students will have opportunities to use all of it, if they choose, while earning high school credit and industry certifications that could lead to job opportunities following graduation."
