CEP PROGRAM

During the 2024-25 school year, the district is implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which provides ALL enrolled students, regardless of eligibility, with FREE breakfast and lunch meals. Even though meals are free, families should still submit an Ohio Household Income Form application to be considered for other benefits such as free healthcare and the Sun Bucks program which provides funding for meals during the summer months. A link to the application can be found under the Resources section to the right.

THE NUTRITION GROUP

The Brookfield Local School District is pleased to partner with The Nutrition Group (TNG) to provide healthy meal options to our students, everyday. For over 40 years, The Nutrition Group has been serving breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to thousands of students in more than 200 school districts. TNG will:
  • Provide more foods to choose, including fresh-made entrees, grab & go selections, healthy snacks and beverages;
  • Work with the district's administration to assemble a Youth Advisory Council and Parent Advisory Councils, giving students and parents a chance to be more involved;
  • Educate students about nutrition with colorful posters, banners, and signage containing healthy food cues and inspiring messages.
The Nutrition Group utilizes the Nutrislice app, a free app that offers the industry's best digital experience for students, faculty and staff, and parents. Users can scan digital menus, utilize menu filters, view ingredients, give feedback, and get cafeteria information. The app is available on both the Apple Store and Google Play.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Free/Reduced Meals Program

During the 2024-25 school year, the district is implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which provides ALL enrolled students, regardless of eligibility, with FREE breakfast and lunch meals.

The Brookfield Local School District participates in the National School Breakfast and School Lunch programs. The programs allow eligible students to receive free/reduced cost meals at school. Free/reduced meal applications are given to families at the beginning of each school year and are available in each office. If you receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, all of your children who attend school automatically qualify for free school meals. Participation in other federal assistance programs, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) also provides automatic eligibility.

Families must apply for the benefits each school year.  Additionally, if your financial status changes at any point during the school year, please fill out and submit a Free/Reduced Meals application to check for eligibility. Even though all meals are free for the 2024-25 school year, families should still submit an application to be considered for other benefits such as free healthcare and the Sun Bucks program which provides funding for meals during the summer months.

National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.
