Schultz Selected for Young Women with Bright Futures Award

Congratulations to Brookfield High School senior, Delaney Schultz, who was selected to be this year’s district honoree for the YWCA’s Young Women with Bright Futures Award! Schultz was recognized at the organization’s banquet held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 and received a $500 scholarship for being the district’s award nominee.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the one representative of BHS for this award,” Schultz says. I have always tried to be involved in my school and community. I enjoy being a part of something and giving back to others. Being involved in community service clubs and projects has made me see how much of a difference you can make in people’s lives just by doing one small act of kindness."

Since its inception in 1994, the YWCA’s Young Women with Bright Futures program has been providing community recognition of outstanding young women who are high school seniors. Honorees are selected by school administrators based on their leadership, creative, academic, and volunteer traits.

As part of the program, honorees participate in three days of leadership seminars where they hear from guest speakers, work to compose essays on why they should be selected for the top scholarship award, and complete a collaborative community service project.

At Brookfield High School, Schultz is actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including Student Council, S.A.D.D. (Vice President), SMASH Club, and National Honor Society. She served as captain of the Varsity Soccer team during the 2024 season and is a multi-year varsity letter winner in soccer, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Schultz has demonstrated her leadership skills as a senior mentor and Camp Fitch counselor, and has served her community in various ways, including volunteering at a youth basketball camp, organizing items in the Back Pack Program, constructing bunk beds for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization, and serving as a hall monitor.

Schultz plans to enroll in a cardiovascular technology program following graduation. She plans to pursue a career as an ultrasound technician.

Congratulations, Delaney!
