College Credit Plus (CCP)

College Credit Plus (CCP) classes are available to Brookfield students in 7th-12th grades. This provides students the opportunity to take college classes while in high school. Interested students and a parent/guardian must attend a mandatory CCP meeting in the fall prior to starting the program.

CCP is a dual-enrollment program that enables students to earn college and high school credit at the same time through Kent State Trumbull, University of Akron, or Youngstown State University. Each college has its own admission requirements, which will be explained at the CCP meeting in the fall. This information can also be viewed on the college's website or under the appropriate tab below.

Students interested in taking CCP classes must submit a Letter of Intent by April 1st to the Guidance Counselor to apply for admission in the fall. Students must take the ACT or SAT as part of the application process.  Admission to the university does not guarantee enrollment in a class.  Further placement testing may be required.

CCP students are required to fulfill all graduation requirements specified by Brookfield High School. The grading policies adopted by the college where the student is taking the courses will be followed by Brookfield Schools. All grades earned during College Credit Plus (CCP) courses will be included in the calculation of their Grade Point Average (GPA). NOTE: the Brookfield Local School district does not weight grades based on specific courses.

Tuition, fees, and books are covered by the district if a student completes the class with a passing grade. If a student fails the class, or incurs any fees, such as withdrawing late from a class or any other fees, the parent/guardian will be responsible for all costs incurred.

Courses offered at BHS include:
  • Algebra
  • American Literature & Diversity
  • Trigonometry
  • Writing I & II
Additional CCP class options are available through the colleges listed below. Click each institution listed for more details.
